Van Uytvanck vs Muguruza: no chance for Alison?
At the Olympic Games, in the round of 16 Alison Van Uytvanck will face Garbine Muguruza. In three matches on hard surface Spanish player recorded three wins over the Belgium representative. Should we expect another victory from Garbine? The answer is in our prediction.
Alison van Uytvanck
Alison Van Uytvanck is an unexpected guest at the Olympic Games' round of 16 in Tokyo. A victory in the first round over Jorovic (6:3, 6:2) was not so surprising, but a victory over Kvitova in the second round is a huge sensation (5:7, 6:3, 6:0). Alison was a huge underdog of that match by the bookmakers' choice.
After a loss in the first set Van Uytvanck didn't give up and keep on fighting. Kvitova's performance dropped in the second set and she was not physically ready for a long match.
Current No. 9 in the WTA rankings Garbine Muguruza is so far confirming the status of a favourite, unlike some other players in Top-20, who were eliminated from the tournament already.
Spaniard played most difficult match in the first round against Veronika Kudermetova (7:5, 7:5). Russian player had many chances to win at least one set in this match, but Garbine played accurately on crucial moments. In the second round Muguruza recorded a confident victory over Wang Qiang (6:3, 6:0).
Only once in last four head-to-head matches more than eight games were played in the second set
In three most recent head-to-head matches more games were played in first set than in the second one
Garbine Muguruza has a solid advantage in head-to-head matches, winning three matches out of four. Most recent match was held on a hard tournament at Melbourne during the current season. In that match Spaniard crushed Alison by a 6:2, 6:0 score. We don't think that Van Uytvanck will be able to put up a fight in a match against the Spaniard.
Our prediction - Muguruza to win with a handicap of (-5) games
Prediction: Handicap (-5) on Muguruza
